우리들 이야기

가정교회는 성경적인 교회를 회복하는 노력입니다. 그렇게 하기 위해서 가정교회사역원에서 주관하는 것이 세미나와 컨퍼런스입니다. 세미나는 가정교회를 왜 해야 하는지를 알려 주는 것이고, 컨퍼런스는 어떻게 하는지를 배우는 기회입니다. 평신도를 위해서는 [평신도를 위한 가정교회 세미나]와 [목자수련회]와 [목자 컨퍼런스]가 있습니다. 목회자를 위해서도 [목회자를 위한 가정교회 세미나]와 [목회자를 위한 컨퍼런스]가 있습니다. 목회자를 위한 가정교회 컨퍼런스는 북미에 있는 교회들이 돌아가면서 주최합니다. 이번에는 캐나다 밴쿠버 지역교회 연합으로 준비했습니다. 지역에 있는 교회들이 재정이 부족하여 우리 교회가 조금 지원했습니다. 이번에 117명의 목사님, 사모님, 선교사님들이 등록했습니다. 김인기 목사님은 가정교회 북미 사역원장으로서 전체를 준비하고 진행하셨고, 이지혜 사모님은 [부부의 삶]강의를 하시고, 저는 [경건의 삶]강의와 사례발표를 하였고, 아내는 사모님들의 조모임 리더로 섬겼습니다. 이렇게 우리 교회가 다른 가정교회들과 선교사님들을 여러 가지로 섬길 수 있어서 감사합니다. 매번 컨퍼런스에 가면 궁금하거나 필요한 것을 한두 가지 꼭 배우고 옵니다. 

이번에 전체 개회사와 대화와 설교등을 통해 제가 배운 것은 첫째, 목장은 목자만 섬기는 것이 아니라 목장식구 모두 섬기는 훈련을 하도록 모두의 집을 오픈하라고 세미나 교안을 수정한 것을 배웠습니다. 목장 모임을 모두 오픈하면 그 가정을 축복하는 데 유익이 있습니다. 둘째, 교회 식구들이 주변 사람들을 교회로 인도하려면 교회를 자랑스러워하고 섬기는 에너지를 쏟을 수 있는 건축, 이웃 섬김, 선교 등을 한다고 합니다. 그렇게 가정교회에서 생긴 영혼 구원과 섬김의 에너지를 분출하는 가장 좋은 것이 바로 선교입니다. 휴스턴 서울교회는 2월에 선교 잔치를 해서 선교 신청을 받아 5~8월 사이에 선교를 갑니다. 매주 만나서 훈련을 받고 선교에 가니 VIP들도 감동을 받고 예수님을 영접하는 경우도 있다고 합니다. 셋째, 목회 사역을 하다 떠나 다른 지역의 큰 교회를 다니는 한 자매님의 이야기를 들었는데, 사명으로 살지 않으니 몸은 편해도 행복과 보람은 없었다고 합니다. 매주마다 목장 모임을 위해 시간을 내고, 돈을 쓰고, 음식을 준비하면 몸은 분주하지만, 마음에 참된 행복과 사랑을 줍니다.  

HC is a movement, striving to restore the Biblical church model. The World HC Ministry hosts a Seminar and Conference to achieve that goal. HC Seminar teaches why we do HC, while the HC conference offers how to do HC. HC ministry offers [Lay-Leader HC Seminar]for church lay-leaders, [HC Seminar for Pastors] and [HC Conference for Pastors] for ministers of the church. Churches in North America host the HC Conference for Ministers on a rotational basis. Churches in the Vancouver, Canada HC region hosted this year’s conference. Those churches in the region needed financial support, hence our church contributed as well. About 117pastors, couples, and missionaries registered for the conference. Our Rev. InkiKim chaired the conference as the North America HC minister chairman. Mrs. Jeehae Kim (pastor’s wife) gave a lecture about the [Couple’s life] Bible study session. I gave a lecture on [Transforming Life] Bible study sessions and shared a testimony. My wife served as group leader for the pastors’ wives group. I am so grateful that our church could serve other HCs and missionaries in various ways. Whenever I attend the conference, I either learn something I wanted to learn or something I needed to learn. 

Let me share what I learned throughout the conference from the opening remarks and other conversations, including sermons. First, I learned that HC is not served by HC leaders only, but HC is to train its members in how to serve the HC. To do so, HC guidance has been adjusted to recommend opening each member’s house to be trained for this purpose. If you open your household to HC, it will surely be blessed. Second, to bring church family members’ close friends, neighbors, and acquaintances to the church, the church must be a place where members are proud of- this makes church family members gather more energy on the construction of the physical church structure, serving the community, and participating in the ministry. The mission is the best way to exert these efforts gathered for saving souls and serving others in HCs. Seoul Baptist Church of Houston accepts applications for the mission trip during their Mission Festival in the month of February, and then goes on a world mission from May to August. VIPs are really touched, and some VIPs even accept Jesus as their Lord, as VIPs see how HCs meet every week to train up for the mission and then go on a world mission. Third, one sister shared her own story of how she felt empty and unhappy even though it was comfortable for her after leaving the HC ministry and attending a mega church in another town. It requires time and resources to prepare for weekly HC meetings with food. This may make you feel busy but HC will bring true happiness and love to your heart.
