We started the newcomer Bible Study [Cornelius] last Sunday (the 9th). This Bible study teaches about 4 principles of spirituality, how to grow in faith, the Bible, prayer, and our church. I observed how our dispatched pastor, Rev. Inki Kim. In addition to all topics discussed, what I liked most was that his study focused more on the preparation for living in faith with our Church community. The Bible study enables learners to draw a new blueprint of the Biblical church, no matter where they learned about Christianity and what Bible study they attended. Also, the session gives an opportunity for attendees to share their personal story- happiness, sadness, and troubles alike- so that they may prepare for HC meetings. This all gears toward settling in our church well. However, the newcomer Bible study that started last week was very special. It was the biggest gathering ever, 9 attendees total, for the English Newcomers Bible study offered by our church so far. It was also surprising that all attendees had different national and cultural backgrounds from one another. We had 3 Brazilians, 1 US, 1 Korean, 1 Taiwanese, 1 Jamaican, and 1 Mexican gathered for this Bible study.
It is very interesting how those attendees were curious about each other and enjoyed learning about each other with lots of questions. One sister asked what Chinese language was spoken in Taiwan, and we learned the difference. All were interested to learn that Brazilians use two last names and first names. I asked how they came to our Vision church. Some newcomers came because of others’ recommendations. Some newcomers even shared that they came to our church because of ‘Winter Garden City Mission.’ All shared they liked our church vibe, and the sermon really touched them within. I was deeply moved. I was especially grateful that they attended our Sunday service despite our services being offered in Korean so far. I really felt how God started His ‘Church for all nations.’ There are similar churches that may offer services for different cultures, but we haven’t seen any churches that have our approach for “Church for all nations.” Our path seems far and has never been taken. However, I want to follow the wisdom and guidance that our Lord provides. As I have shared during the sermon, I would like to offer services tailored more to brothers and sisters from different national backgrounds with more Multicultural HC and multicultural living life study. Please prospect, prepare, participate, and pray together.
