우리들 이야기

많은 교회들이 어린이나 중고등학생이나 청년들이 없어 안타까워하고 있습니다. 신기한 것은 우리교회에는 하나님의 은혜로 어린이부가 약 70여명, 중고등부가 약 40여명, 청년이 약 70여명 교회나 목장에 참여하고 있습니다. 특히 어린이들이 놀수 있어야 할 놀이터는 약 1년정도 사용을 못하고 있었습니다. 예전에 우리가 중고 놀이터를 구입해서 교회 형제들이 땀흘려 설치를 했는데, 수년이 지나 여러 곳이 녹슬고, 바닥에 콘크리트가 드러나서 아이들이 놀기에 아주 위험해 졌습니다. 많은 부모들과 어린이부 교사선생님들이 놀이터의 안전에 대해 걱정하고 새롭게 설치해 줄 것을 요청했습니다. 그래서 금년 초에 하베스트가 주도하고 비전교회는 지원하는 것으로 해서, 여러 관련된 회사들을 조사하고, 가격을 받아서 진행 했었습니다. 특히 하베스트 교회의 Aron Hines장로님이 리더가 되어 수고를 많이 했고, 중간에 3번에 걸쳐 하베트스와 비전교회의 연합당회를 통해 최종 결정했습니다. 그래서 놀이터 설치위해 $263,000에 게약했습니다. 제거하는 비용 $7400은 우리교회 다니는 건축회사의 형제님이 도네이션을 했습니다. 

추수감사절 연합 예배에서 Aaron장로님과 DL목사님이 말한 것처럼, 가격이 예상보다 크지만 우리의 자녀와 미래를 위해서는 헌신해야 할 부분입니다. 자녀가 다 큰 부모이거나, 자녀가 없는 분은 그 필요성에 대해 생각이나 느낌이 적을 수도 있습니다. 하지만, 하나님 나라의 큰 안목으로 본다면 이렇게 자녀들이 많이 모이는 것도 축복이고, 그 자녀를 축복하기 위해 놀이터를 만들어 주는 것은 더욱 행복한 고민입니다. 아이들이 자라는데 있어 놀이는 정서적인 발달과 사회성을 키우는데 얼마나 중요한지는 심리학과 교육학에서 많이 증명이 되어 알고 있을 것입니다. 우리교회는 거의 매일 어린 자녀들이 교회에 옵니다. 주일에는 KK어린이부가 와서 예배하고 놀고, 월요일과 목요일은 Circle Christian School에서 와서 공부하고 놀고, 수요일은 Awana를 위해 자녀들이 교회에 와서 성경을 배우는 활동을 하고 놀고, 토요일은 한국학교를 위해 왔다가 쉬는 시간과 마친 후에 놀수 있습니다. 놀이터를 위해 헌금하는 기회를 축복으로 누리시기 바랍니다. 헌금봉투에 ‘지정-놀이터’로 하시되 일시불도 좋고, 매달 일정 금액도 좋고, 생각날 때 마다 헌금할수도 있습니다.  

Many churches are in trouble of getting smaller in children, youth, and young adults. Despite all this, it is amazing to experience the grace of God that we have 70 children, 40 youth, and 70 young adults attending either Sunday school or HCs. The playground, where our children play, is out of service for a year. A couple of years ago, our church brothers installed a playground set from 2nd hand store with their best ability and effort. However, the playground is no longer safe to play for children because of corrosion and ground deterioration as a part of wear and tear. Many parents and Sunday school teachers asked to install a new playground as there are safety concerns. So this year, Harvest Church is leading while Vision church is supporting, we conducted research on playground builders, comparing cost and other considerations. Elder Aaron Hines from Harvest has been leading this project. We had 3 review sessions between Harvest and Vision church, and the combined assembly made a final decision on this new playground project. So we awarded a contract for our new playground at a total cost $263,000. Our church brother, who works for a construction company, donated the fee for the removal of the old playground, in the amount of $7,400. 

As Elder Aaron and Pastor DL announced during our Thanksgiving all-family Sunday Service, it costs way more than we anticipated. However, this is what we must commit to for our children and for our future. Church members with no children or with grown-up children may not feel as important as others. However, if you see God's greater perspective, it is a blessing to have many children in our church. Also, it is a greater blessing if we solve this happy problem to install a new playground to bless our children in our church. Many psychological and educational scholars have confirmed and proven how important it is to have a place to play with other children for their social and mental development. Almost every day, young children come to our church. On Sunday, Kingdom Keeper children come to our church to worship and play. From Monday through Thursday, Children from Circle Christian School come and play. On Wednesdays, our Awana children study the Bible and play. On Saturdays, children from the Korean School come to study and then play. Please take this opportunity to contribute to the playground as your opportunity to bless others and be blessed. You may give an offering with a dedicated offering (write-‘Playground’). This can be one time offering or a monthly offering. Or you may give an offering whenever this playground project comes to mind.
