Reason for receiving a baptism (02/22/26)

The word ‘baptism’ originated from the Greek verb baptize (βαπτίζω), meaning ‘submerge under the water’ or ‘wash with the water.’ The ceremony utilizes water, which symbolizes that the blood of Jesus cleanses our sins, an old person dies with Jesus, a new person unites with Jesus, resurrects with Jesus, and lives a new life as a child of God. This is why we must receive this baptism. Even in the Bible, Jesus Himself, who was the son of God, got baptized to show us an example, despite not even needing to have one. (Matthew 3:16) As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment, heaven was opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. Above all, Jesus commanded us to make disciples and baptize all nations as he gave us His Great Commission right before he returned to Heaven. (Matthew 28, 19 Therefor,e go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”) This means baptism is not an option but a requirement for Christians.

Many are hesitating or procrastinating on getting baptized, just like I did in the past. Many shared with me that they don’t want to get baptized yet because some haven’t finished reading the Bible, some don’t feel comfortable moving forward, some don’t finish learning about Christianity, some shared that their life has not changed totally, and some shared that they don’t believe and understand the Bible wholly. In the early Church days, the Christians risked their lives to confess Jesus as their Lord and receive baptism, but they received baptism despite all the persecutions they faced. It is impossible to understand and learn all things in the Bible. Our lives may not change perfectly, even with our lifelong struggles. If you are one of the following, I highly recommend to receive a baptism- Those who decided to believe in Jesus throughout [Meet Jesus Meeting] with me in our church, those who received baptism without faith when you were young or during your military service, those who received baptism involuntarily by other’s decision, and/or those who still commit sin and not perfect but believe in Jesus truly. Receive a baptism that celebrates in becoming children of God, encouraging the commitment of faith, and promising new life!
