가정교회를 ‘왜 하는지’를 알려주는 세미나로서 목회자를 위한 가정교회 세미나와 평신도를 위한 가정교회 세미나가 있습니다. 평신도를 위한 세미나는 2박 3일 동안 목자/목원의 가정에서 민박을 하고, 가정교회의 세축(목장, 예배, 삶공부)과 네 기둥(성경적 교회 존재 목적, 제자훈련 방법, 사역분담, 섬기는 리더십)에 대해서 배우고, 실제로 목장을 방문하고 목자들의 간증을 통해서 성경적인 교회 모습을 왜 회복해야 하는지에 대해서 알게 됩니다.  목회자를 위한 세미나는 5박 6일 동안 목자/목원의 집에서 민박하고 세축 네기둥의 강의를 듣고 목자들의 6번의 간증을 듣고, [생명의 삶] 성경공부도 배워서 목회자들이 각 교회에 돌아가서 강의할 수 있도록 알려드립니다.  8월 5일부터 10일까지 우리교회에서 개최되는 이번 목회자를 위한 세미나에는 12분의 목회자들이 최종적으로 등록완료하였습니다.  미주에서 목회자를 위한 세미나는 휴스턴 서울교회와 우리교회가 하고 있습니다. 팬대믹을 전후하여 세미나에 등록하는 분의 숫자가 많이 준 이유는 세미나에 참석한 분들이 그 만큼 많았기도 하고, 교회들의 상황이 어려워 졌기 때문이기도 합니다. 

그런데, 이렇게 5박 6일 동안 처음 뵙는 선교사님과 목회자님들을 섬긴다는 것은 쉽지 않습니다. 어떤 자매님은 음식 재료를 구입하기 위해 7시간을 운전해서 아틀란타로 가고, 어떤 분은 자신의 집을 청소해서 모르는 손님을 6일 동안 민박으로 섬겨야 하고, 어떤 분은 장식과 간식으로 섬겨야 하고, 어떤 가정은 수요일에 목장 식구들과 상견례가 있고, 어떤 가정은 금요일에는 목장 모임을 하거나 토요일에는 초원모임까지 해야 하며, 어떤 분은 자신의 시간과 돈을 들여서 공항에 라이드를 해야 하고, 어떤 분은 휴가를 내어서 일주일간 매일 교회에 와서 세미나의 사역자가 되십니다. 또한 교회는 재정을 지불하여 각종 행정적인 것들(이름표, 폴드 등)을 제작하고 식사비로 사용해야 합니다. 하지만, 이런 모든 섬김과 희생에도 불구하고 숫자에 관계없이 세미나를 개최하는 이유는 김인기 파송목사님이나 저와 같은 한 분의 목회자라도 성경적인 교회인 가정교회를 좋아하고 평생을 바치는 분이 나올 수 있다면 의미가 있기 때문입니다. 우리 비전교회가 가정교회를 통해 받은 은혜와 사랑을 나누어야 할 책임과 감사의 마음이 있기 때문입니다. 

There are HC Seminars for pastors and HC Seminars for lay leaders that teach why we do House Church. HC Seminar for lay leaders is a 2-night and 3-day session, learning about three axes of HC (House Church, Worship, Life Bible study) and four pillars of HC (Purpose, Biblical Church existence, methodology on Disciples Training, division of ministry, and serving leadership). During this seminar, lay leaders stay in a home provided by our church members. They also visit HC churches, listening to HC leaders’ testimony, which reinforces why we must restore the Biblical Church. HC seminars for pastors are 5-night and 6-day sessions. Ministers also stay in a homestay, learning about the Three Axis and the four pillars of HC throughout instruction sessions. The seminar also includes 6 sessions of HC leaders’ personal testimony. Those attending ministers learn how to conduct [Living Life Bible study] so that they may do the same Bible study. Our Church will host HC Seminar for pastors from 5-10 August, with 12 ministers completed registrations. In North America, only our Church and the Seoul Baptist Church of Houston offer the HC Seminar for ministers. There is a huge decline in the number of attendees after the pandemic. This is because there were a huge number of people who wanted to attend the seminar before the pandemic, compared to post-pandemic, as well as many churches who experienced hardships. 

However, it is not easy to serve those missionaries and pastors whom we had never seen before for 5 nights and 6 days. Some sisters drove to Atlanta for 7 hours to buy groceries for seminar meals. Some may open their houses for 6 6-day- homestay for attendees. Some need to serve with decoration and snack preparation. Some families may have engagement with HC members on Wednesdays. Some may have to have both Prairie meetings on Saturdays and the Friday HC Meeting.  Some must use their own resources and time to give rides to and from the airport. Some use their own time off from work to support seminar operations every day. Also, the church allocated funds to pay for administrative costs to design (name tape, folder, booklet, etc) and meals. However, there is a reason why we continue hosting these seminars despite all this commitment and sacrifice. It is all still worth it if there is at least one minister who loves and dedicates his/her life to HC, the Biblical Church, just like Rev Kim or me coming out of these seminars. It is all because our Vision Church is still responsible for sharing the grace and love that we received throughout the House Church ministry.
