About Baptism (10/12/25)

Baptism denotes the time of celebration and commitment to live a new life for those who received Jesus as their Lord, commemorating their past sinner's life is over, and becoming children of God. As we celebrate a newborn baby in the family, we celebrate and congratulate them on becoming a the family of God, and a member of the church family community. However, some people get it wrong about some parts of baptism. They are under the wrong assumption that one must have a mysterious experience or life-changing/tear tear-jerking prayer experience prior to getting baptized. Some also have the wrong assumption that they must read the Bible more, know everything about the Bible, and believe everything the Bible says. Some are under the wrong impression that they need to attend church longer and know better about Christian culture. Baptism does not mean a completion of the faith, but a commencement. Even in the Bible (Acts chapter 8), Philip explained the Bible verses that the Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury for the queen, was reading, shared Jesus, and baptized him by the water nearby.

(35 Then Philip began with that very passage of scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. 36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” 38 And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. Hence, all who received Jesus as their Lord and Savior must receive a baptism. And they must continue to grow in faith by studying the Bible and practicing what they learned in church/HC community- this is important. Some may doubt their assurance in salvation after baptism as their faith grew weaker. In most cases, they were not cared for and nurtured with Bible study like [Living Life] Bible study. Once you have faith, your faith life must continue to grow, just as a baby needs to grow, because their life has just begun. Another reason our faith weakens is that we base our state of salvation on how we feel about our current spirituality and faith life. We didn’t receive our salvation because we met the condition. But, we received our salvation because God kept His promise as He promised in His own words, the promise in the Bible. Invite Jesus to our hearts as our Savior and Lord. If you received baptism without that assurance, I recommend receiving the baptism again after you have reaffirmed your faith.
