우리들 이야기

성경적인 교회를 회복하는 운동인 가정교회의 장점은 ‘이것만 옳다’라는 식의 고집도 부리지 않고 언제나 새로운 것에 열려있다는 점입니다. 그래서 거의 매년 새로운 삶공부들이 만들어지고, 이전의 삶공부들에 대해서도 수정을 하고, 세겹줄기도회나 다니엘 금식기도도 도입하고, 가정교회 세미나의 내용도 조금식 업데이트 됩니다. 그런 변화 중에 하나가 바로 ‘뉴젠 목자 컨퍼런스’ 입니다. 가정교회가 몇년 전까지는 수평적으로 이웃의 영혼을 구원하여 제자를 만드는 것에 집중을 해왔다면, 이제는 ‘가족목장’을 통해서 수직적으로 자녀를 영혼구원하여 제자만들려고 노력했습니다. 이것이 3년전에는 뉴젠 목자 컨퍼런스로 도약하게 된 이유 중에 하나입니다. 먼저 단어를 설명드리면, 젊은 세대나 자녀에 대해 흔히 교회에서 사용하는 말은 ‘다음세대’입니다. 그런데 그들의 입장에서 생각해보면, 다음세대(next generation)가 아니라 ‘새세대(new generation)’라는 생각의 전환이 필요했습니다. 

그리고 ‘목자 컨퍼런스’의 개념은 이미 수년동안 성인 목자목녀를 위한 컨퍼런스가 휴스턴에서 매년 2박3일간 있었습니다. 세미나는 가정교회를 왜 해야하는지 배우는 것이라면, 컨퍼런스는 어떻게 하는 것에 대해 배우고 다른 교회의 목자들과 기도하고 함께 훈련을 받으면서 힘을 얻는 시간입니다. 이 컨퍼런스를 위해서 엘에이 미라클랜드 백동진 목사님과 우리교회 나지혜 전도사님등이 주축이 되어 매년 준비하고 있습니다. 저는 북미가사원 실행위원인데 뉴젠 컨퍼런스 담당자입니다. 정리하면, 뉴젠 목자 컨퍼런스는 어린이 목자, 청소년 목자, 청년목자, 대학생 목자 등 새 세대 가정교회 목자와 예비 목자들이 함께 모여서 목장목회의 정보를 배우고, 서로 기도하며 훈련하여 재충전하는 시간입니다. 영어로 진행되는 컨퍼런스이며, 선배 목자들이 강의도하고 상담도 해주고 경험을 나누어 격려하기도 합니다. 또 자원봉사자와 교육 담당 목회자와 교사가 참여하여 강의나 멘토링을 해 줍니다. 이번에는 휴스턴 서울침례교회가 주최하며 장소는 휴스턴 기독대학이고, 우리교회에서는 저를 포함해서 총 36명이 3박4일간 참여하니, 기도해 주시기 바랍니다. 

One of the best practices of the House Church, restoring the Biblical church, is that we are willing to accept new ideas rather than adhering to old ways as if it is the only way. That is why we add new 'life-Bible Study' courses, make updates to previous life-Bible study series, adopt three-strand prayer, adopt Daniel fasting prayers, and we update HC seminar curriculums almost every year. One of those changes is the 'New-Gen HC leader conference.' Until a few years ago, HCs primarily were focusing on saving souls of neighbors and making them disciples horizontally. Now, we are shifting to make HC for the family and save the souls of our children and make them disciples. This is one of the reasons why we introduced the 'New Gen HC leader conference' three years ago. If I may explain the terminology, we automatically use the term 'next generation' when we refer to the younger generation and/or our children. However, if we shift our perspective from us to them, we need to change our perception as well as using the term (New Generation) rather than (next generation). And this concept of 'HC Leader's Conference' has been hosted in Houston, a 3 days conference, for adult HC leaders for many years. 

If the seminar is to learn why we are doing HC, the conference is learning how we do HC while receiving encouragement during prayer and training sessions with other churches' HC leaders. The New-Gen conference is organized by other church leaders including Pastor Daniel Baek of LA MiracleLand Church and our church minister pastor Jeannie Na. I am serving as a member of the executive committee member for North America HC ministry and oversee this New-Gen HC conference. In Summary, New-Gen HC leaders conference brings Children HC leaders, Youth HC leaders, College HC leaders, and other new generation HC leaders and candidates together, learning HC ministry, praying, training, and refreshing together. This conference is conducted in English. Veteran HC leaders give lessons and counseling while sharing lessons learned from their experience. Also Volunteers, pastors in the education department, and teachers join providing teachings or mentorship. Seoul Baptist Church of Houston is hosting this year's conference. The location is in Houston Christian University. A total of 36 members from our church are attending this conference for 3 nights and 4 days. Please pray for us.
