우리들 이야기

지난 6월 마지막 주일이 제가 비전교회 담임목사가 된지 딱 4년이 된 시점입니다. 스스로 저의 목회를 돌아보면 나름 최선을 다한 것 같았습니다. 어떤 주는 삶공부를 6개를 한 적도 있고, 새벽 5시30분 부터 밤 10시까지 있으면서 설교준비와 상담을 하기도하고, 새벽에 기도할 때는 비전교회 형제 자매님들의 이름을 불러가며 기도한 적도 있었습니다. 거의 매주 병원이나 가정을 심방하고, 1년에 2-3번은 다른 교회에서 설교를 하기도 했습니다.  모든 민족의 영혼을 구원하여 제자를 만드는 가정교회에 마음이 가서 호주 호산나 교회에 5명과 같이 방문하고 오레곤에 7명의 형제와 방문하였습니다. 매달마다 예수님 영접과 세례가 있도록 기도하였는데, 평균 20명 정도의 세례가 매년 있었던 것 같습니다. 이렇게 정리한 이유는 저의 성과를 말하려는 것이 아니라, 그동안 형제자매님들이 참고 기다리고 동역해 주었기 때문임을 감사하려고 합니다. 또, 제가 평신도라면 새로운 담임목사님이 오면 어떨까 상상해 보았습니다. 

삶공부도 수강하라고 하고, 예배 순서도 바꾸고, 다른 교회들에 탐방도 가자고 하고, 이전 담임 목사님과는 다른 소통의 방법과 리더십, 이 모든 것을 참으며 적응해 간다는 것이 쉽지 않음이 느껴졌기 때문입니다. 그래서 비전교회 형제 자매님들께, 아버님 아버님들께 참고 함께해 주셔서 고맙다고 말씀드립니다. 저의 실수와 부족함도 떠올랐습니다. 충분히 소통하지 않은채 진행한 것들도 많고, 형제자매들에게 친근하게 언제나 다가갈 수 있는 목사의 모습이 되지 못했고, 영적인 감정적인 필요를 다 채워주지 못했고, 아버지의 마음과 같이 사랑으로 품지 못하고, 그리고 사역이나 삶에서 성공하도록 좋은 코치가 되지 못한 부분 등이 생각이 났습니다. 그래서 형제 자매님들에게 미안하다고 말하고 싶습니다. 이런 고마운 마음과 미안함 마음을 동기로, 저는 하나님께는 감사와 회개를 드리고 있고, 또 다시 처음 시작하는 마음으로 비전교회와 형제 자매님들을 섬기려고 합니다. 주님이 기뻐하시는 교회이며, 형제자매님들에게는 행복한 교회로 만들도록 다시 최선을 다하려고 합니다. 이런 저를 위해서도 기도해 주시기 바랍니다! 

he last week of June marks my 4 years anniversary of being a senior pastor of Vision church. I think I did my best as I look back on what I have done so far. One time, I led 6 Life Bible Studies at once. I even prepared my sermon and consultation with my church members from 5:30 am till 10 at night. I called out all the names of Vision church brothers and sisters during morning prayer. Almost every week, I made a hospital visit or home visit. I was invited as a guest speaker to other churches at least 2-3 times a year. I visited Hosana Melbourne Hosanna Church with 5 of our church members and visited Oregon Village church with 7 of our church brothers. I have been praying that our church always offers baptism and people receiving Jesus as their Lord, hence I do believe our church did about 20 baptisms every year. I list these not to recognize my performance, but to show my gratitude toward my brothers and sisters who have been patient and working with me. I have been thinking what if I were a lay leader receiving a new senior pastor. 

I do understand it is not easy to adjust and keep patient since the new senior pastor has different methods of communication and leadership- asking church members to attend Life Bible study series, changing worship service agenda, asking church members for other church visits. That is why I want to say thank you for standing by my side to all my vision church brothers and sisters. I know I have my own flaws and mistakes. There are many things I didn’t fully communicate before execution with church members. I wasn’t a pastor who didn’t appear to be easily approachable. I know I couldn’t fulfill all your spiritual and emotional needs. There were times I couldn’t embrace some of you with Father’s heart. Also, there were times that I couldn’t give you better guidance or coaching so that you may be more successful in your ministry or daily life. That is why I am deeply indebted toward all of you. I would like to offer my sincere gratitude and repentance to all my vision church members. With these in my mind, I give thanksgiving and repentance to my God. And I always try my best to serve this Vision church and my brothers and sisters as if I start anew every time. I am determined to do my best to make the Vision church that our Lord pleases as well as brings happiness to brothers and sisters. Please pray for me in this endeavor.
