지난 수개월 동안 콜럼버스한인장로교회에 새 담임목사님이 잘 오시도록 섬긴 김인기 파송목사님이 마지막 목회서신에 부탁하신 것인데 우리도 실천하면 좋을 듯 하여 요약해서 옮깁니다. -(1) 우리 가운데 하나님을 아버지로 모시는 가족의 감각을 실제 연습해야 합니다. 그래서 호칭도 “형제님 자매님” 연세가 드신 분들에게는 “아버님 어머님”하고 다정하게 부르는 것입니다. (2) 교회 이름을 바꾸는 것입니다. (3) 채목사님 가정과 목회을 향해 자기의 입맛, 자기의 종교적 습관, 자신도 못할 어려운 요구는 입 밖에도 내지 말고, 격려 칭찬 사랑을 많이 많이 표현하시기 바랍니다. (4) 우리 교회 식구라면 누구나 다른 교회에서 열리는 평신도를 위한 가정교회 세미나를 적어도 7년에 한 번씩 반복해서 다니시기 바랍니다. (5) 이번에 새로 조정되는 목장 모임에 적극적으로 참석하시기 바랍니다. (6) 다음 세대를 세우시기 바랍니다. 내가 교회 어른이라면 젊은이들을 향해 칭찬과 격려만 해야 하고, 내가 교회 젊은이라면 어른을 향한 감사와 존중의 마음을 표현해야 합니다.
(7) 성경책도 더 쉬운 성경으로 바꾸고, 특히 예수 믿은 지 얼마 안되는 식구들이 쉽게 성경이 이해되도록 도와주어야 합니다. (8) 적어도 삼년에 한번 정도 선교지를 다니시기 바랍니다. 놀러 가는 휴가보다 선교지에 가서 하나님의 일하심을 눈으로 보고 직접 경험해보는 도전이야말로 하나님의 나라의 기쁨을 맛보는 상급의 길입니다. 자녀가 있다면 가족 휴가를 선교지로 바꾸시기 바랍니다. (9) 내가 예수님을 영접했다면 누구나 목자로 헌신하셔야 합니다. 목자는 예수 믿은 증거로 섬김의 모습을 실제 연습하는 믿음의 표현이지, 목자는 직분이 아닙니다. (10) 마지막으로 헌금생활을 하나님 앞에서 잘 하시기 바랍니다. 저는 우리 형제자매님들이 물질의 노예가 되기보다 물질을 하나님 나라의 가치관으로 다스리는 신앙인이 되기를 소원합니다. 헌금은 돈의 액수가 아니고 하나님과의 관계, 즉 신앙의 표현입니다. 이 열가지는 우리 신앙생활의 패라다임을 바꾸는 좋은 연습이 됩니다. 거부하면 자기 책임이고 자기 손해입니다. 연습하면 자신도 행복하고 남도 살리게 됩니다.
The following is the summary of a letter from pastor Kim while he was serving and supporting Columbus Korean Presbyterian Church (KPCCOH) for many months as the Church is awaiting for well transition of a new senior pastor. I want to share this because practicing these would be beneficial for us as well. – (1) We must practice the true sense of family among us as we serve God as our Father together. So we must call each other “Brother and Sister” and “Father and mother” for our elderly members. (2) Consider the change of church name. (3) Please do not make request to change in Rev. Chae’s ministry style based on your own taste in religious practice or something that you can’t even do. But rather give him words of encouragement, complement, and care as much as you can. (4) If you are a member of our church family, please attend HC seminar for lay leaders hosted by other churches at least once every 7 years, repeatedly. (5) Please actively attend HC meeting that is newly organized. (6) please build next generation up for success. If I am an elderly member, please give the words of encouragement and complement only to the young members. If I am a younger member, please show your gratitude and respect toward elderly members.
(7) Consider the change church Bible to easier translation version of Bible. Please help those members who are new to believe in Jesus so that they can understand Bible easily. (8) Please visit your supporting mission field at least once every three years in person. The challenge Experiencing God’s work in the mission field in your own eyes over the vacation is a way of reward, tasting true joy of God’s Kingdom. If you have children, I challenge you to go to mission field during your vacation days. (9) You must commit to become a HC leader if you met Jesus personally. HC leader is not a title but our expression of faith to practice serving others as a proof of our faith in Jesus. (10) Practice life of offering in front of God in faithful way. My prayer is that you become a manager and steward of wealth by the value of God’s kingdom, not to become a slave to it. Offering is not about how much we give, but it is our relationship with God, our expression of faith. These ten items are great practice for shifting our faith paradigm. It is on you and your loss if you refuse. You will live and save others if you follow.
