우리들 이야기

가정교회 밖에서, 또 가정교회를 다니거나 사역을 하고 있는 사람들 중에서 흔히 하는 오해중에 하나는 ‘가정교회=목장’이라는 생각입니다. 물론 영어로 목장은 house church인데 마치 목장이 있으면 가정교회를 한다고 생각하기 쉽습니다. 하지만, 이것은 마치 배경, 정신, 시스템, 원칙 등 더 중요한 것을 놓치고 드러난 한 가지만을 보고 착각한 것입니다. 가정교회를 하는 교회들이 목장이라는 말을 하고 영혼구원의 열매도 많고, 새로운 개념이니까 마치 유행처럼 미국과 한국에 있는 교회 중에서 소그룹 모임을 목장(house church)이라고 사용하는 경우도 많이 보았습니다. 그러면, 가정교회가 목장 그 이상이라면 무슨 말일까요? 먼저, 가정교회를 한 마디로 말하면, 성경적인 교회를 회복하려는 것입니다. 예수님에 대한 구원의 기쁜 소식인 복음이나 성경을 학문으로 연구하는 신학에 다른 이론을 추가한 것이 아니라, 그 복음과 성경적 신학을 잘 전하기 위한 운동인 것입니다.  가정교회를 말 할 때 가장 기본적인 설명이 ‘세축과 네기둥’입니다. ‘네 기둥’은 마치 집의 기둥들이 보이지 않지만 건물을 지탱하듯이 가정교회를 지탱하는 정신들입니다. 

즉, 성경적인 교회의 존재목적은 영혼구원하여 제자 만드는 것, 섬김의 리더십, 성경적인 목회자와 성도들의 사역분담, 그리고 보여주고 능력을 배양하는 예수님의 제자양육 방식입니다. 이것을 컴퓨터로 비유하자면 프로그램을 운영하는 소프트웨어와 같다고 할수 있습니다.  이런 정신이 외적으로 드러난 것이 ‘세축’이며, 컴퓨터로 비유하면 하드웨어와 같습니다. 세축은 사람이 지,정,의를 가진 것에서 시작되었습니다. 지적인 사람의 욕구를 채워주는 삶공부(성경공부)시리즈, 정적인 욕구를 채워주는 매주 모이는 목장모임, 그리고 의지적인 결단을 하게 하는 주일 목장 연합 예배입니다. 가정교회의 성경공부를 ‘삶공부’라고 하는 이유는 지적인 이론만 채울 것이 아니라, 삶이 변하는 것이 가정교회 성경공부의 목표이기 때문입니다. 감성적인 만짐이 되려면, 깊고 솔직한 삶의 나눔이 있어야 합니다. 목장들이 연합으로 모여 은혜로운 주일 예배가 되려면, 주중에 희생과 헌신과 사모하는 마음이 있어야 됩니다.  

One of the common myths, amongst those who are involved inside or outside of HC, is the concept of “House church = Small group.” Indeed, we prefer the term House church when we refer to this gathering. But often many are prone to believe that they are doing HC if attending a small group. This misconception comes from overlooking important elements-background, spirit, system, and principles. Many churches in the US and Korea start to use the term “House Church” often when they refer to their own small group gatherings. I saw this word “house church” is getting more popular because HC is a new concept and they saw many people come to faith because of this. What does that mean if House church is more than a small group gathering? Above all, if we summarize House church into one sentence, the House church is to restore the Biblical church. House Church is a movement, aimed to share Good News and Biblical theology well, not another theological addition to Good News of Jesus’ Salvation or theology of studying Bible. Basic introduction that well summarizes House church is ‘three axes and four pillars.’ ‘Four pillars’ are fundamental values that uphold House church, just like pillars that support the building despite the fact that we can visually see them. 

They are- Purpose of Biblical Church is to save souls and make them disciples, servant leadership, Ministers with Biblical Values and partnership in ministry with church members, and lastly Jesus’ model of disciple training by showing example. These four pillars are like operating system software for computers. Three Axes are visible representations of these four pillars just like hardware for computers. Three axes originated from the fact that humans possess intellect, emotion, and volition. Life Bible studies are aimed to fill the intellectual needs. Weekly HC meetings are to fill emotional needs. The Sunday Service, all HC united worship, is to support church members so that they may make and keep their commitment to God. We call our Bible study ‘Life Bible Study’ because it is not just to deepen intellectual knowledge, but it is to change one’s lifestyle-this is a goal for HC Bible study. We must share our life honestly if we want to experience emotional and heartfelt touch. We must have made a commitment with sacrifice and love throughout the week if we want to have an united HC service on Sunday with full of grace.
