우리들 이야기

무엇이든지 원본을 복사한 것을 계속 복사하다보면 원본과 조금이라도 달라진 것들을 보게 됩니다. 가정교회는 32년 전에 최영기 목사님을 통해서 미국 휴스턴 서울교회에서 시작했습니다. 최 목사님에게 배운 분들이 지금까지 가정교회를 통해서 성경적인 교회를 만들려고 꾸준히 노력하고 있습니다. 또, 최목사님에게 배운 목회자와 목자들이 다른 분들에게 가정교회 정신을  전수하고 있습니다. 최근에 미국에서는 가정교회를 배우는 젊은 목회자들이 계속 새롭게 등장하여 좋습니다. 그래서 최목사님에게 배우지 못한 분들이 원본이 되는 최목사님에게 배우면 좋겠다는 생각을 했습니다. 그래서 작년부터 ‘차세대 가정교회 목회자 코칭모임’을 만들어서 2년 째 최영기 목사님을 모시고 젊은 목회자들이 배우는 시간을 진행하고 있습니다. 이 모임을 만들었지만, 저도 코칭에 참여하기 때문에 배우는 것들이 많습니다. 

지난 1월 20-23일에 엘에이에서 가진 코칭모임에서 제가 배우고 결심한 것을 나눕니다. 첫째, 항상 기본이 중요하다는 것입니다. 가정교회의 기본은 ’세 축, 네 기둥’입니다. 네 기둥은 가정교회의 정신과 같은 것으로 교회의 존재 목적, 예수님의 제자 훈련 방법, 성경적인 사역 분담, 섬기는 리더십입니다. 세 축은 그것을 실제로 실행하는 목장, 삶공부, 그리고 주일 목장 연합예배 입니다. 항상 세축 네기둥이 건강하게 잘 있는지를 기본으로 삼고 교회를 섬겨야 겠다는 결심을 했습니다. 둘째, 기도를 통해 성령님께 의지해야 한다는 것입니다. 사람을 만나기 전에도 설교를 준비하면서도 구체적으로 시간을 내어 기도하는 최목사님의 이야기를 통해서, 기도를 통해 성령님의 인도하심을 받아야 겠다는 것을 강하게 재 다짐하게 되었습니다. 내가 기도하는 것을 하나님도 보시지만, 성도들도 보고 있다는 것을 기억하겠습니다. 셋째, 목사는 정직하고 투명해야 한다는 것입니다. 사람의 눈치보느라 할 말을 못하거나 욕심으로 속이지 말아야 한다는 것을 배웠습니다. 성도들을 사랑하기 때문에 솔직히 이야기 할 것은 해주어야 겠다고 결심했습니다. 

Whenever we repeat the copies from the original, we always discover a little deviation from the original. HC started with Seoul Baptist Church of Houston 32 years ago by Rev. Young-gi Chai. Those who learned from Rev. Chai, put their best efforts into building and restoring the Biblical church with House Church. Also, those ministers and HC leaders continue to pass down the spirit of HC that they learned from Rev. Chai. I am happy to see continuously younger generation of HC leaders in America, wanting to learn more about HC. So it came to my mind that for those who didn’t learn from Rev. Chai, it would be beneficial to learn from the founder. Hence, we started hosting an “HC Coaching Session for the Next Generation” for younger HC pastors with Rev. Chai. This meeting started the last year, and this year was year 2. Even though I started the meeting, I also learned a lot because I also participated in the session. 

I want to share what I learned and committed during the last 20-23 January session. First, Always Fundamental! Fundamental of HC “Three Axis, Four pillars.” Four pillars are like the spirit of HC. They are the purpose of HC, the methodology of Jesus’ disciple training, the Biblical division of the ministry, and serving leadership. Three axes are how we should execute the HC throughout the HC meeting, the Living Life Bible study, and the Sunday all-HC service. I committed to serving the church by always assessing the wellness of the three axes and four pillars. Second, I must rely on the Holy Spirit by prayer. Rev Chai shared that he always spares time for prayer before meeting a person and sermon. So I decided to receive a guide from the Holy Spirit throughout my prayers. I will remember that not only God sees when I pray, but also my church family members see me praying. Third, the Pastor must be honest and transparent. I learned that I must not deceive others with greed and not say the right thing because of the fear of others. Also, I decided that I must say things honestly because I love my church family members.
